CareSouth offers a complete program to care for those dealing with Mental Health issues in the comfort of their own home. Many times patients and their care providers do not understand that there are treatment options available that can dramatically improve the quality of life for loved ones dealing with a wide range of mental illness. CareSouth's team of clinicians will also treat other health problems such as Hypertension, Diabetes, COPD, or CHF which may exacerbate
mental illness. Effectively treating mental illness starts with education for our patients and their care providers. Our Psychiatric Nurses will devote their time to making sure that all your questions regarding the treatment process are answered about the plan of care ordered by your physician.
CareSouth's Mental Health Program is designed to improve the lives of those impacted by Mental Illness so that they may remain in a safe home environment while receiving the best care available.
- Education of Patient and Family on Mental Health Issues and available treatments.
- To provide expert clinical care for other health issues that may exacerbate Mental Disorders.
- Create a safe home environment for our patients and their families.
- Develop meaningful activities and exercises for patients dealing with Mental Illness when appropriate.
- Improve quality of communication between patients and their care providers.
- Medication Management.
- Provide information about community resources for those affected by Mental Illness.
- Report significant changes in condition to Physician or Psychiatrist.
- Prompt crisis intervention and support.
Psychiatric Nurse: Expertly trained to evaluate and treat psychiatric disorders. Our Psychiatric Nurses provide education to patients and their care providers on treatment options and what to expect during the episode of care.
Skilled Nurse: Carries out the specific plan of care for each patient. Services include skilled care and evaluation of patient's needs, education of patients and caregivers, and coordination of care with the patient's health care team.

Physical Therapist: Provides evaluation and training in mobility, transfers, gait, pain, strength and therapeutic exercises, and instruction on equipment and home safety.
Speech Therapist: Evaluates and trains patients who have speech, language, voice, swallowing and cognitive disorders.
Occupational Therapist: Evaluates and trains patients in daily living activities of feeding, meal planning, bathing and dressing. The therapist leads the patient in an exercise regimen to build strength, increase range of motion, and improve coordination. Planned events such as arts and crafts activities, which can be extremely beneficial to patients dealing with mental health issues, are coordinated and supervised by a CareSouth Occupational Therapist.
Medical Social Worker: Provides short-term counseling services and makes referrals to appropriate community resources for assistance with living arrangements, finances and other long-range planning.
Certified Home Health Aide: Delivers services under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed therapist. Provides inhome personal care duties such as bathing, assistance with meals, and activities of daily living.

To qualify for CareSouth's Mental Health Program under Medicare, the following criteria must be met:
- The Patient must be under the care of a Physician who determines that Homecare Services are appropriate.
- All Patients must be determined to be homebound. Homebound status means that a considerable or taxing effort is involved for the patient to leave the home. Patients with certain Mental Illness may be classified as homebound even if the patient has the physical ability to leave home on their own.
- Patients must require skilled care including one or more of the following: Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Therapy.
