Stroke survivors are often left with a wide range of disabilities. Clinical intervention offers significant potential for achieving the greatest degree of recovery. Evaluation and assessment can identify a wide assortment of assistive devices and coping skills to provide relief and augment the return to independence.
- A recent CVA (stroke) with or without:
— weakness or paralysis
— speech or swallowing difficulties
— memory deficits and cognitive function
- Deteriorating condition from a previous stroke
- Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA), often called mini strokes
- Medication management
— Poly pharmacy
— Anticoagulant therapy requiring labs
— Assistance and education with new medications
- side effects and adverse reactions
- dietary contra-indications
- Increased likelihood of return to independence through physical, speech and/or occupational therapy and skilled nursing care
- Rehab to the highest level of recovery through use of assistive devices and education of caregivers on how best to care for stroke survivors and promote their independence
- Education about strokes and the best practices to avoid complications or relapses
- Medication management for optimum benefit from prescribed therapy
