Stroke survivors are often left with a wide range of disabilities. Clinical intervention offers significant potential for achieving the greatest degree of recovery. Evaluation and assessment can identify a wide assortment of assistive devices and coping skills to provide relief and augment the return to independence.

Patients who have any of the following indicators may benefit from the CareSouth Stroke Recovery program:

  • A recent CVA (stroke) with or without:
      — weakness or paralysis
      — speech or swallowing difficulties
      — memory deficits and cognitive function
  • Deteriorating condition from a previous stroke
  • Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA), often called mini strokes
  • Medication management
      — Poly pharmacy
      — Anticoagulant therapy requiring labs
      — Assistance and education with new medications
    • side effects and adverse reactions
    • dietary contra-indications

For the Patient: Education and rehabilitation for the highest degree of recovery

  • Increased likelihood of return to independence through physical, speech and/or occupational therapy and skilled nursing care
  • Rehab to the highest level of recovery through use of assistive devices and education of caregivers on how best to care for stroke survivors and promote their independence
  • Education about strokes and the best practices to avoid complications or relapses
  • Medication management for optimum benefit from prescribed therapy
