Becoming a Hospice Volunteer

 As a
hospice volunteer, you are a vital part of the CareSouth Hospice team. You visit patients, comfort the bereaved, sit with the dying, assist in our office, and provide other services as needed. You listen. You comfort. You care. You are a hospice volunteer. And we couldn’t provide the quality care and service our patient’s need without you.

In order to become a Hospice Volunteer you will need to take an initial comprehensive training program offered through CareSouth Hospice.

As a volunteer you will have to complete a minimum of eight hours of training which is designed to help you:

  • Explore your own attitudes about death.
  • Learn more about the basic concepts of hospice care.
  • Develop your communication and listening skills.
  • Receive the opportunity to discuss physical, psychological, spiritual and economic needs of patients and family with the CareSouth Hospice team.
