As a grandparent, it is often my duty to pretend to be wise for the sake of my grandchildren and for my own sanity. Yesterday a child said some pretty mean things to my granddaughter while we were walking down the street. This morning, my granddaughter and I left a basket of goodies on that neighbor's door.
Sometimes it's hard to be kind to people who are not kind to you. Or who don't behave well, in your opinion. Doing something nice for those people is not always easy. But, to keep your own heart right, it's good to try. Sometimes, it comes back to you in good ways. Sometimes it doesn't. But, it's worth a shot. My granddaughter walked away with a strange look on her face. It's a familiar look. The one that says, 'maybe one day I'll understand this lady..."
Yep. It's a tough job being a grandparent. But, I'm up for it. How about you?
